Bathroom Update

BEFORE......I didn't want you to forget what this bathroom looked like. Grandma P. has been putting her sweat and love into helping me transform this bathroom to make it liveable for us and any of my clients before the real makeover when we gut the whole thing.

It's still not completed, but BIN paint and caulk are my new best friends, because of this bathroom. BIN is basically the duct tape of paint. Amazing......amazing product.

Thank you Grandma P!!!!!!!!!!

God Bless Uncle Bob!

This is my Uncle Bob. He isn't really my uncle, but he might as well be, because I've been calling him Uncle Bob for about the last fifteen years. He is a professional painter and so lovingly told us that he was going to come and spray paint for us to help us get a leg up. The one workday he put in with me probably saved us about a week and a half of work at least. This is us at breakfast starting a paint day out right by having some bacon and pancakes. He called breakfast one of his "list of demands." It was his only demand AND he wouldn't let me pay.

I'm all about the action shot. He primed our walls and painted our ceilings and trim around the doors and windows. It looks so much better. Now we're ready for a cut in/roll and baseboard painting party.

The name of the trim color that David and I picked out is called "Chantilly Lace." Uncle Bob opened it and instantly started laughing and saying yeah you could call it that OR you could call it white! I told him as a painter he should be trained in the subtle nuances of color. I found Chantilly Lace to have just the right touch of warmth.............okayokay okay it's white.

It felt so good to rip the tape off the windows and see the walls looking so fresh and clean.
THANK YOU UNCLE BOB!!!!

Floor Sanding

David has been working hard on sanding these floors. I had no idea how much work it is and we still have to go over it again, edge it and poly it, but without much done we are pretty happy to see the beautiful wood.

This is a shot at the top of the stairs. On the left is Ren's room and down the hall on the right is our room.

I had to take a picture of the bathroom. Our friend Janet came over the other day and cleaned the first layer of grime off...God bless her! Then today I laid on the floor and used a whole bottle of goo gone scraping off layer after layer reaching under our clawfoot tub. It looks pretty good in this picture, but you can't really see the nasty curled up edges of the linoleum. Just another fun project.

David on the phone to his boss who was telling him of a four day storm coming over from Alaska.

This is a shot of the dining room and landing of the stairwell.

My studio.

This is the kitchen on our side. I took this picture and was waiting to take an after picture, but totally forgot. The buckets aren't for aesthetics only, we have a fun leaky ceiling project.

Ceiling project in kitchen above and below is a picture of the floor division between the kitchen undone and the dining room first run sanding.
