Today is David's official birthday!
We were in Chicago visiting friends and having a great time. What David didn't know is that he was going to see his first playoff hockey game of his favorite home team against Chicago!
It was a group gift from his family and yours truly and team support from my sister in Michigan watching our girls plus her three children solo until Paul came home from Argentina. That's one lady, 5 children...I am here to report that she and all the children are safe and alive, pretty much. She didn't exactly squeal the tires as she pulled out, but you get the point.

Here is them cleaning the blood off the ice. David frantically wanted to take a picture, because apparently in his words, "THEY NEVER SHOW THAT ON TV!"

This proud Canadian found himself in a sea of red jersey's. Chicago fans are pretty rough and they don't take kindly to tall, skinny, Canadians with bumper stickers attached to their chests. David was heckled a little bit, but he conducted himself very well so, it didn't tick them off too badly. An old guy in front of David couldn't take it at the end and dipped his head back to say something about Canucks lack in the playoffs, but fortunately David knew his stats better than this guy did and calmly shut the guy up who soon walked out early with a 4 to 1 defeat.

The game time had changed several times and I won't bore you with that story, but needless to say, if my brother and sister in law hadn't kept me abreast I would have taken David a day early to the game at the very least hours earlier.
When I surprised David with the game he was speechless. Completely speechless and a little shaky.

Some of the ONLY Vancouver fans. In fact the first time Vancouver scored. David shot up out of his seat and cheered with what seemed like 5 other guys out of 1000's of fans.

David thought it was his best birthday EVER. Nice work team! You know who you are and thanks so much!

I love you David. Happy Birthday!
