We love to have Easter egg hunts! That is what our fun tradition was when we were kids. Here are the girls waiting excitedly.
We adults went outside and hid eggs filled with candy. David and Paul hide the big kids and Alison and I hid the Legumes. If you look close at this picture you will see that Paul is holding a piece of paper. It is a map so they don't forget where they hid them....... like last year. Uncle David likes to make it nearly impossible so, Paul's map idea was pretty great.
It was really funny to see Paul with his map. It's so Paul.
David is burrowing a hole and was going to completely cover the egg up too! We started to protest that the kids would NEVER find it. He finally scratched a little part of the color to poke through. This is so David.
The Hunt Countdown!!!
The Legumes found their 16 eggs!
Lydia and Christopher had a little bit more challenging task. Thank God for the map!
David was giving Christopher clues, but then decided to come up with the "Magic Snowball."
"The snowball will show you where to go!" Uncle David said.
The Magic Snowball led Christopher to this huge tree where he found a clue of a yellow jelly bean. The jelly bean was all gooey from sitting on the dirt and snow. Christopher showed it to Lydia and they commented on it's grossness and then Christopher, like a true boy popped it in his mouth and wiped the sticky off on his pants.
The Magic Snowball was such a hit that Uncle David used it with Lydia to find her next egg.
This has to be the only Easter Egg Hunt where tree trimming tools need to be implemented.
What could that egg be hidden UNDER little Bird?
JOY.
When David had launched the egg into the giant pine tree the egg broke open, so David said that once he got the plastic egg out of the tree David would reward him with what had been inside.
Success with the trimmer and there is the reward hand-off.
This seems to be Ren's pose of choice these days.
Wondering where the heck his last egg, THE last egg is.
David gave a pretty good riddle and Christopher found it.
While the Legumes were hanging out Leguming. Ren happened to see a shape on the driveway.
This bunny. She finds cool things like this quite often so I wasn't too surprised, but it was a very fun discovery on Easter. I told Ren to lie down on the ground and pretend she was kissing it. She didn't really understand so Papa did a little demo for her.
Then everyone wanted to get in on the fun.
Grandma W. also had Easter treats just, because there wasn't enough chocolate??
Yum. I woke up with a stomachache today and I'm the adult. I know pitiful. Hope you all had Happy Easters! Much Love!
Wow! What a great Easter memory for years to come. The Easter bunny must have gotten pretty cold and tired hiding all those eggs outside, so by the time he made it our way, decided to bring those delightful eggs indoors...papa's shop, actually. The outdoor hunt looks like so much fun.
